The senior exam schedule is available for printing in the "Resources" section of our website. In addition, seniors will enjoy an open campus but will be required to stay in the gymnasium until the testing period is over. Seniors may dress in casual clothing on exam days.
May 13, 2008 - Athletic Booster Organization
The last and final ABO meeting for the 2007/2008 school year has been changed. The new date is Tuesday May 13, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. in the school library. I hope this works for everyone and the reason for the change is the girl’s softball and boys baseball teams will be playing there regional games on Wednesday evening. I have attached the agenda and the minutes form last month.

April 12, 2008 - Clean-Up Rantoul Day
Saturday, April 12th has been declared Clean-Up Rantoul Day from 10:00am to 12:00 noon. This is an approved service hour project. If you are able to assist with this project, please contact Sister Sara at daytime phone 892-2011 or evening phone 892-2870. Lunch will be served at the completion of the completion of the project.
April 11, 2008 - Kudos to the Latin Exam Winners
During the second week of March 2008 The High School of Saint Thomas More participated In the National Latin Exam , sponsored by the American Classical League. The 22 students who participated were joined by over 134,500 others from all 50 states and 11 foreign countries. Out of the 22 students of STM, 18 received an award. Out of these 18 students, 15 received First place -Gold award ( Summa Cum Laude), 2 received Second place- Silver award ( Maxima Cum Laude) and one was placed in fourth place ( Cum Laude).

April 11, 2008 - Kudos to the Scholastic Bowl Team
The High School of Saint Thomas More Scholastic Bowl Team finished their season winning the Sangamon Valley Conference Play-Off. The team also competed in the Eastern Illinois University Honors College Scholastic Bowl, Tau Beta Pi Scholastic Bowl, the Illinois Masonic Academic Bowl, IHSA Regional Scholastic Bowl Tournament where they took the championship title, and IHSA Sectional Tournament where they placed second. The Varsity team consisted of seniors: Team Captain, Kevin Grady, Eric Ahasic, Nicholas Heugel, Mallory Millage, Nathanial Perry, John Ruesch, Robert Schell, and Bernadette Wagner and junior Christine Mealiff. The Junior Varsity team consisted of sophomore Patrick Ahasic and Team Captain Alexa Gooden, and freshman Kaleigh Niccum, and Nicole Taylor. The Varsity coaches were Mrs. Linda Warfel and Mrs. Mary Ahasic. The Junior Varsity coach was Ms. Jean Forst.
April 5, 2008 - Service Hour Opportunity
The Special Olympics is looking for volunteers to assist with the April 6th swim meet which will be held at the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center. Many volunteers as there are a variety of jobs. Some of the athletes need a personal escort to make sure they go from the "bull pen" area to the appropriate lane and get in the pool at the right time etc… Other jobs include feeding the athletes lunch and standard meet jobs such as timing and ribbons. Volunteers are asked to come for no less than a 2 hour slot as it can be disruptive to switch out more frequently than that. For questions or to volunteer, contact Mrs. Ann Garey at 493-1962. This is an approved service hour opportunity.
April 1, 2008 - Graduates asked to donate uniform items...
Are you wondering what to do with those STM uniform components that your graduate will no longer need? The Parents' Association invites you to donate these items to our "Sabers' Closet" where the clothing will be sold at nominal cost during the 2008-2009 registration. We are accepting the following items: polo shirts (white or green), green fleece jackets, ties and cross overs, pe shirts, pe shorts, sweatshirts and sweatpants. Sorry, no pants/slacks.

March 9, 2008 - Books by the Bushel
CU Junior League is hosting their annual "Books by the Bushel" at Pages For All Ages Bookstore on March 7,8, 9. A group of books have been selected for the STM library. Pages has ordered them so they will be available for purchase. This is a wonderful way of providing books specifically chosen for STM. In the past, books have been purchased to honor an STM student, staff member, or as a memorial/dedication. A book plate will be place inside the books for these designations. This project has been quite successful over the years, and we hope this year is no exception.

February 14, 2008 - STM FAMILY IN IMMEDIATE NEED
STM is not only a community, but a family. The devastating flood that has touched so many lives in Champaign County has, unfortunately, touched one of our own. One of our families had their home flooded losing everything—clothes, furniture, washer/dryer, television—too many to list. To assist our STM family in their time of need, cash donations are being accepted at the school office. Please indicated "STM Flood Donation" on the outside of the envelope. And, as always, your prayers for this family, as well as all of the families affected by the adverse weather during these cold winter months, are needed.

Students attending the March for Life Trip will meet on Wednesday, January 9th at 7:30am in Father Joe’s classroom. The adult chaperones attending the March will meet Wednesday, January 9th at 6:30pm, classroom 108 at the high school. Any parents not attending the march are invited to attend the chaperone meeting.

You can support the art department and also send out unique, student designed Christmas cards this year. We have 8 different designs in each pack. A set of 8 assorted cards is $12 or you can purchase individual cards for $1.75 each.
The cards are beautiful, uniquely designed by Caroline Jones, Christiana Hinders, Cara Feeney, Ryan Schwartz, Emilee Kunas, Justin Telthorst, Rachel Caufield and Rhea Michaels.

STM Parents - If you get a chance, please take a moment to visit the hallways this week. Our school was filled with students on Saturday who spent the day decorating their hallways for judging by the faculty. The 2007 Homecoming board game theme "Checkmate Sabers" which was selected by Student Council has resulted in unbelievable creativity -- "Clue" for the Senior Class, "Monopoly" for the Juniors, "Candyland" for the Sophomores, and "Operation" for the Freshmen. Wow! You won't believe your eyes. Check out the "spirit boards" on display at Friday's game. Many thanks to Todd Atkins for building our spirit boards this year. The students note they are "sturdier than ever"! GO SABERS!!!!

September 28, 2007 - Volunteers Needed at Homecoming Game!!
Saber volunteers are needed for the Homecoming Football Game this Friday, 9/28, for parking, concessions, food runners and cleanup. Shifts are 4:15p-7:00p and 7:00p to end of game. Call Teri Easton in the Athletic Department to volunteer for this event.

Please arrive slightly before 6:30pm and proceed to the gym where you will pick up your student(s) schedule(s). At 6:30pm there will be a few short words and then parents will proceed to classrooms. The evening will conclude at 8:30pm.

The High School of Saint Thomas More is looking for a part-time (6 hours per day) Cafeteria worker. The STM cafeteria is a fun, fast-paced environment. August 29, 2007 - STM DVDs For Sale
The 2007 Baccalaureate and Commencement DVDs are ready to be picked up. Mr. Warren will be here Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:30am to 10:00am. The cost of the DVD is $20 each, which he would prefer to receive cash. If you preordered a DVD, Mr. Warren has a copy for you. If you didn't preorder a DVD, there are limited copies to purchase.
Mr. Warren also has copies of the Fine Arts Night, May 10, 2007 for sale.
