We will be on Bell Schedule #1 today.

ALL STUDENTS: Any student parking in teacher parking, reserved areas or other areas prohibited to students will receive an office detention.

ALL STUDENTS: Any student caught running to lunch will be placed at the back of the lunch line.

ALL STUDENTS: Remember you are NOT to be at your lockers until the first warning bell.

TODAY’S HOT LUNCH: Today’s lunch will be BBQ pork sandwich, tater tots, cole slaw and pears (please note: our monthly Lunch Menu is available from the web site menu under “About STM | Lunch Menu")

Do you have old shoes that you no longer wear? Help the InterAct Club by donating “GENTLY WORN*” shoes to the Soles for Souls service project. Put any “GENTLY WORN*” shoes in the box outside the main office, starting TODAY.  *"GENTLY WORN” means soles intact, no holes, clean, and shoe laces not missing or broken.

All Students: Are you missing any books?  We have an overabundance of lost books at the rack outside the main office.  Check there first for your missing books, before you have to pay for them!

YoungLife Club TONIGHT at 7:47pm at Nathaniel Khachaturian’s house!  All are welcome!

The Scholastic Bowl T-Shirts are designed and ready for printing.  They truly are the hottest thing next to juicy couture!  See Ms. Metka BEFORE the end of the day TOMORROW to order one.  You don’t want to miss out on this item which has been spotted on Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgins!

TOMORROW is a very important Art Club meeting.  All Art Club members should attend.  Please see Mrs. Pagel if you cannot come.

Attention STM Science Club Members there is a meeting TOMORROW at 7:00pm in Room 206.  We will have a guest speaker talking about fuel cells and he will have a demonstration to share with us!

Anyone interested in playing softball, there will be an open gym on WEDNESDAY at 6:30am.  See Mr. Blakely for any questions.

Sabers for Life has a meeting WEDNESDAY at 3:15pm.  We will be talking about upcoming events.

InterAct Club members: Our next meeting will be FRIDAY at 7:15am in the Library.

Be sure to purchase your Candygram for a friend during lunchtime!  For $1, you can write a special message that will be delivered, along with candy, during 3rd hour on FRIDAY.  Don’t miss out on the fun!

This year the Empty Bowl Supper will feature performances in music, drama, poetry reading, story telling and dance.  Anyone who is interested in performing should sign-up with Mr. Stefanic, Mrs. Pagel or Ms. Metka. The deadline to sign-up is FRIDAY.

The 4th Annual Battle of the Bands is FRIDAY, featuring seven bands and a surprise special guest host.  Doors open at 6:00pm.  The Rock Band Video Game competition begins at 6:30pm.  Bands will begin performing at 7:30pm.  Admission is $5.  See Mr. Stefanic to sign-up for the Rock Band Video Game competition, BEFORE Friday.

2009-2010 Senior Yearbook Ads

Senior ads for the yearbook are now available.  These are ads for sale to families to congratulate their students after 4 years of hard work.  These ads are in full color in the back of the yearbook and often include pictures and congratulations for the graduates.

Fall Athletes Receive IHSA Scholastic Recognition

Once a Saber - Always a Saber!

Alumni Varsity Lettermen returned to STM on Friday, January 15th to prove their game is still on. It was great to have them back in Saber Country and supported by their parents who cheered them on from the bleachers!  After a dinner, hosted by the STM Development Office, Alumni Lettermen tossed out small basketballs to STM fans and were welcomed home by former STM Chaplain Fr. Joe Dondanville and former Varsity Basketball Coach Chad Hesterberg.

EXPLORE Test Make-up Date

As part of the admissions process for STM, incoming freshmen are required to take the EXPLORE test.  This is a placement test and will be utilized in helping place students in the proper classes at STM.

John May and Carla Grady Honored at 2009 Annual Donor Appreciation

John May - 2009 Paideia Award Honoree

The High School of Saint Thomas More hosted its Annual Donor Appreciation Brunch “Showcase of Thanks” honoring its loyal and committed supporters. Father Stephen Willard, President of the STM Pastors’ Board, along with Guest Speaker Msgr. Albert Hallin presented the 2009 Paideia Award to John May. Principal Tim Millage presented the Carl D. Stewart Volunteer Service Award to Carla Grady in recognition of her outstanding service and unwavering commitment to The High School of Saint Thomas More.

ISAC Salutes 19 Seniors as the “Best and the Brightest”

The Illinois Student Assistance Commission recognized 19 seniors as “2010 Illinois State Scholars”: Elizabeth Anderson, Alexandra Bechtel, Lisa Clarkson, Timothy Colombo, Abigail Coobs, Clinton Coulter, Catherine DeBrock, Erin Fallon, Tyler Faught, Brooke Happ, Regina Hinders, Christopher Holman, Jong Doo Lee, Johanna McCarthy, Catherine Schell, Justin Telthorst, Erin Wachtel, Corrine Walker and Andrew Wszalek. This prestigious award is given annually by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) which is recognizing 19,345 high school students who hail from 752 schools in all 102 counties. Illinois State Scholar winners rank in the top ten percent of high school seniors. Selection is based on SAT, ACT and/or Prairie State Achievement Exam scores, and/or class rank at the end of the junior year.

The Battle Of The Bands Is Coming

Please join us on Friday, February 12th for Saint Thomas More 4th Annual Battle of the Bands! Student bands compete for prizes and a local studio recording session.  The evening will also feature a Rock Band competition for prizes.  Contact Mr. Stefanic at if you or your band is interested.  Tickets will be available at the door for $5.00.  Join us for the Battle of the Bands on Friday, February 12th!
